Stop Begging For Kwaw Kese, He Should Face The Law For Smoking Wee…..
The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana, Paul Frimpong-Manso has vehemently kicked against moves to plead for the release of hip life artiste Kwaw Kese.
Some musicians and respectable personalities in the country are seeking the release of the controversial artiste, known in real life as Emmanuel Botchway.
Kwaw Kese is currently facing the court for allegedly smoking wee.
Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso said the culture of pardon spearhead by high profile personalities in the country when one commits offense must seize to allow the rule of law of the land to work without discrimination.
The Rev. Minster argued that if many people have been convicted for smoking wee, then Kwaw Kesse must also be dealt with by the same law.
He said this on Sunday during a church service to dedicate a new Church building to the Calvary Love Assembly of the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana at Akyem Oda old town.
He averred that the fact that Kwaw Kesse had the guts to smoke publicly knowing very well that it is against the laws means he was ready to face any charges if caught and should therefore be allowed to face the music.
The man of God again stated that for corruption and criminal activities to reduce in Ghana there is the need for the offenders of the law to be severely punished to serve as deterrent to others.
He, therefore, called on those pleading on behalf of Kwaw Kesse to desist from the act and allow the law to take its course.
The controversial rapper was arrested by the police in Kumasi on Saturday, November 22 for allegedly smoking wee in public.
Kwaw Kesse has since been facing trial and has been denied bail after appearing in court for three times.
During the last appearance at the Kumasi High Court last week, the prosecution said results of the test conducted on the substance have proven to be Indian hemp and per the amendment of the criminal code, the musician cannot be granted bail.
The prosecution’s argument was upheld by the judge who remanded Kwaw Kesse into Prison custody and adjourned the case to December 22, 2014.
Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso also cautioned that the Assemblies of God Church will not shield any Pastor or Church member who engages in corrupt activities, adding that the fight against corruption needs a collective effort; hence the church must help in the fight.
He called on the President John Dramani Mahama to do more in the fight against corruption in government since corruption is draining the national purse.
